Story
I'm running the London Marathon for the 2nd time. Whilst there are times during training I think what the hell am I doing this for, most of the time it feels great and the sense of achievement is immense.
I'm running for the Alzheimer's Society this year. My nana (never graduated to calling her a title that suited my maturer years) has been suffering from Alzheimer's for the last 10 years. I came back from a two year travel holiday in 2000 and she still knew who I was but now she doesn't know me from Adam and that's very upsetting. She will be celebrating her 100th birthday this year but she won't know it. My uncle is looking after her in the family home.
The Alzheimer's society provides medical research into this terrible disease and provides support for carers. So please help in trying to stop or alleviate something that by 2012 there will be half a million people gone undiagnosed.
I'm doing a lot of training for this. I've already done a half marathon in brighton last Sunday the 20th of Feb. I'm running about 30 miles a week. Three days in the week roughly 5-6. Saturday a fast run of about 6 and then Sunday the long slow run of 10+
