Story

My best friend, Leigh (that's her in the blue top in the photos) suffers from fibromyalgia/ ME which has worsened over the years.  She is such a lovely, strong person who has done her best to keep going despite all the pain and heartache, having to give up work, not being able to be the active 'yummy mummy' she had hoped to be (she is still a 'yummy mummy'!) and regular incidents of ignorance and prejudice from people who don't have a clue about the illness. She struggles with even the simplest of daily tasks and going out requires major planning to ensure that she doesn't suffer for it for too long afterwards.

I'm joining her (and several others) in a Sponsored PJ Day to raise awareness of ME and funds for my chosen charity, Action for ME, in the hope that one day she'll be free from pain and able to do what she wants without having a million and one considerations to take into account.... can she use her scooter, are there seats at regular intervals, does she need someone with her, has she got enough painkillers.  This quieter pursuit ensures that more people can join in without stressing their bodies and suffering later.

It doesn't matter if you can spare 50p or £50 your donation could literally change her life through Action for ME's research, so please donate whatever you can. Here is a link to my just giving page which is easiest but I'm happy to accept donations by cash or cheque if that is easier for you.

More Info:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalopathy is a long-term, fluctuating illness which affects men, women and children of all ages. There are approximately 250,000 people with CFS/ME in the UK alone. CFS/ME causes problems for the immune system and nervous system and gives rise to many debilitating symptoms including flu-like weakness & fatigue, head-to-toe pain, sore throats, swollen glands, headaches, nausea, sleep disturbance, cognitive, mood and memory problems. If you would like to know anymore about the illness read here: http://www.actionforme.org.uk/get-informed/about-me

Fibromyalgia is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the fibrous tissues in the body. Most patients with fibromyalgia ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages. For more information read here:
