Last year after 9 years of battling Dementia we lost our dear dad to this cruel disease. 

A couple of months before he passed away our special mum too was diagnosed with Alzheimer's all part of the same cruel disease and both suffering a very similar deterioration. 

To know our mum was was going to suffer in the same way as Dad has broken our hearts and to watch her deteriorate is even more heart breaking. However both parents still have given us the same smile on greeting them and that same affectionate hug. To them their no different at times except for the times we've watched them searching for their memory which can be difficult and the time when you have to remind them your their daughter.

They gave us everything and I wanted to take part in this walk to help raise awareness and feel I am still doing something for the best parents in the world.
