Story

Tracy, Anna, Will and Kerry will be taking on their biggest fundraising challenge in July 2021 by completing the Ultimate TASC Fundraising Challenge to raise much needed funds for the Ambulance community.

This will comprise of completing 2 challenges in 1 day:
  • First challenge: Taking on the Velocity in Wales (the fastest zip wire in the world)
  • Second challenge: will be followed by a night climb of Snowdon

Tracy Nicholls, CEO of College of Paramedics, “I have been in the ambulance service, until recently, for over 26 years as a paramedic.  I know first-hand how the job can affect you and how the realities of Covid-19 are now affecting many of our members in the College of Paramedics.  I never want there to be a time when support is not available to anyone who has worked in the ambulance services and feel absolutely passionately about making sure that anyone who needs support or advice can get it, whatever the situation they or their families find themselves in. TASC has shown time and time again that their support of our cherished people can make such a difference and I think it is the least I can do to put myself through two challenges that terrify me for different reasons and raise as much money as I can to continue that support through this wonderful charity.  I am so grateful that Anna, Will and Kerry have decided to support  me and am grateful to them and the wonderful team at TASC for helping get this fundraiser off the ground.  I know I will have to work really hard to get `challenge-ready’, but I hope I can gather some help along the way from willing supporters.  Please donate if you can.  Thank you so much. X”

Anna Parry, Deputy Managing Director of AACE, " I am delighted to be joining Tracy, Will and Kerry in this fundraising challenge for TASC.   I have worked for the ambulance service since 2007 and always been in awe of the tremendous job our staff do and the contribution they make to their patients and the population, never has this been more the case than throughout the Covid-19 pandemic this last year. The mental health and wellbeing of ambulance service staff is of paramount importance, now more than ever, and The Ambulance Staff Charity offers a range of supports and services for staff, volunteers and their families to help them when they are in need.  These supplement support that ambulance service employees are able to access through their own trusts as well as elsewhere in the NHS.  Please support us in raising money for TASC by facing some of our own fears.  Thank you to Tracy for inviting Will, Kerry and me to join her in tackling these two challenges and to the TASC team for all their support x"

Will Hancock, CEO of South Central Ambulance Service, "I am looking forward to the Ultimate Challenge and the camaraderie with others who are tackling it.  In my role as lead CEO for Mental Health for UK Ambulance Services I really do understand the issues and just how important the work of TASC is.  Please do support us either by joining us in the Challenge yourself or by making a donation to TASC, or both!  Thank you."

Kerry Gulliver, Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development, “Our staff in the Ambulance service do a difficult job often under very challenging circumstances providing care for patients when they need it most.  This can have an impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our Ambulance staff and that is why it is important that we focus on doing whatever we can do to ensure our staff can access mental health and wellbeing support when they need it.  TASC play a vital role in caring for the mental health and wellbeing of Ambulance staff and their families, and that’ s why I am taking part in this challenge.”

TASC, The Ambulance Staff charity is the leading UK charity working to support current and retired Ambulance Services personnel and their families, regardless of role, to enhance their mental and physical wellbeing during times of need. We offer timely, tailored, often multi-stranded support to individuals and families, helping them to improve their circumstances. Increasingly, people are turning to us for help with multiple and complex needs; in 2018 the average number of hours of support we gave to each beneficiary was 9.8 hours.
