Story
I'm signing up for a few challenges this year in Ged's honour. The current ones are the Longest Day Run where i'm pledging to run a marathon (my furthest distance, ever!) www.longestdayrun.com and the Otmoor Challenge which is a half marathon cross country race.
Why?
@12pmclub Ged Clarke was a warm, inspirational, wonderful man who died on 1 April 2012 having just crossed the finish line of the Reading Half Marathon suffering a terribly public heart attack.
He started a club on twitter called @12pmclub; his reasons were to inspire and encourage others to get outside in their lunchbreaks, to enjoy a fitter and more active lifestyle and to encourage quality time with your loved ones.
Ged gave so much of himself to others, a man with a huge heart, always with a smile, advice, encouragement and unwavering positivity. This is to keep his dream alive and to give something back to him. All money raised will go to the British Heart Foundation and by setting these challenges I hope they will inspire and motivate you too. :)
So this is where you get to do your bit and where i get to say thank you. xxx
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
I want just to say a word of thanks to Willowbrook Leisure Centre in Didcot who have kindly allowed me and my fellow marathon runners the use of their car park and facilities at the start and finish of our run. It'll make a huge difference to us all on the day, thanks everyone.
