Story
So it has started......Strictly fever!! And yes we, myself and Derek, have been caught up in it. We will be learning to dance a specific genre in 8 weeks and perform it in front of you, our friends, and a panel of judges.
We have been given the Charlston, so we need to perfect our swivel, be quirky and make sure we are aerobically fit!!! - here we go - oh help!
All it took was an email to express and interest and we thought it would be fun, but now reality is dawning and we have 8 weeks to pull this off, with a 1hr lesson a week from a professional and lots of personal practice time. We have been picked to dance as a couple rather than an individual with a professional dancer, so please come and support us and the charity Hope House.
As you know I look after children who have life limiting conditions, mainly muscular dystrophies, and therefore Hope house is very close to my heart. They provide so much support for our families as well as the children themselves and their brothers and sisters, whilst coping with their conditon that continues to deteriorate and rob them of a normal childhood, the ability to walk and run and eventually causes weakness in their breathing muscles and heart muscles. Hope house offers a safe environment, that can care for the childrens needs as well as being a fun place to visit and give families a break. For my older patients, they enjoy going to Hope house to meet up with their friends for respite care as well as going out on the 'Young Adult Groups' that are organised for them as the staff are able to deal with their complex needs.
Hope house is a lifeline for these children, young adults, their families and the professionals who also care for them. Please support us in doing this as well as coming to the event.
Hopefully we will not end up on our bottoms!!!
