For the past 4 years I have worked for Archway. I just love it! Now, I would love to give something back to Archway and the parents and carers who put all their trust in me to keep their loved ones safe and as happy as possible. Archway is a small, Aberdeen charity offering a lifeline of caring services for children and adults with learning disabilities. . It was set up over 30 years ago by parents and carers themselves and now supports almost 200 families. through a range of services including residential care, residential respite care, a supported living service, holiday accommodation and a social club. At the start of the pandemic, I went to St Margaret’s Place, their supported living service. I am now part of a small team who provide 24-hour care to 4 ladies who have additional support needs. I feel so privileged to be supporting these amazing ladies. They have coped well with all the changes in their lives due to pandemic - and they have helped me make it through this difficult time. Everyone that uses Archway, whether for respite, or permanent care, are amazing and such an inspiration – and so are the staff. This has been a very difficult year for me personally. I have lost people that I LOVE and that were very close to me, and they have supported me through throughout. So, the exciting part is that I am doing a Sponsored Head Shave, on my Birthday - 15th June 2021 - outside St Margaret's Place. All the funds raised will go towards opening another Supported Living Service to help more people with learning disabilities enjoy living in the community with the care and support they need. Please help me raise as much as we can for the fantastic charity as they try and help more people and families.
