Oliver and I are on a De-Chox for the month of March... that’s right no chocolate till Easter Sunday.
I’m raising money for Kidney Cancer Scotland in memory of my Uncle Joe who sadly lost his battle in October last year of Kidney Mets.
He fought just over 4 years from first diagnosis, had a kidney removed and trialled new drugs not only to help himself but to help others. He was part of a clinical trial for the drug cabozantinib which later ended up being approved by the NHS for other terminal renal cancer patients.
Those who know me best know how much this man meant to me.
Growing up I loved spending my Saturdays over in Glasgow with my dads family. Mostly to see my Uncle Joe and Aunt Kath.. he used to pretend to be a pop star and I believed him... he did me proud and gave me away on my wedding day... he was kind, thoughtful and a fun loving Great Uncle to my boys who loved and speak often of him.
Im not sure Oliver realises just how long a month is without chocolate, but he would like to join me in memory of his Uncle Joe... he has already set aside his first chocolate fix for after all his hard work...
