St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity, providing care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses. We have an In-patient Unit, Sunflower Centre and Hospice@Home service. Our care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide.

Story

I took up running as a challenge set by my Mum.  Last year I completed the York Marathon but this year has been a lot harder to achieve the training goals.  But I am determined to get there and by doing so supporting St. Leonard's Hospice.

To raise funds this year I have been growing Dahlias and exhibiting them at local shows.  The prize fund is my pleague to St. Leonard's.  I have also won with jam, marmalade and even a few onions, and had a great time too.  But it has involved lots of time and dedication.  Just like learning to run.

I have so far completed the Blackpool Half Marathon back in April, the Humber Half Marathon in June, then a weekend trip to the Isle of Man completed the Half Marathon there.  Funnily enough on all of these runs the weather has been appalling.  I hope it is not like that on the 12 October.
