Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2018, I took part in a Race For Life. I was supporting my bestie who had unfortunately lost her mother to pancreatic cancer on Valentines Day earlier that year. I hated running. I had all the excuses, especially that my body wasn’t built for it. But I wasn’t doing it for me.
I had however managed to lose 2 stone prior to the race. The atmosphere was great. The messages inspiring and running the race wasn’t so bad either. It inspired me to want to run properly. So in September that year I commenced a couch to 5K course with Running Buddies, a running group in Rushden. I gained a new social group and a love for running.
In 2019, I completed two half marathons. The next challenge has to be a full marathon and I wanted to do it before I hit 50......it’s looming! Team Neely-Hayes had come to support me during my second half marathon. Finnley had been diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma in April 2017 and I had been one of many nurses who helped care for him in hospital. Alongside Finnley’s treatment, Finnley’s Warriors evolved and held fund raising events to support Children with Cancer UK, a charity that helped support the family through Finnley’s treatment.
Almost 4000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s ten every day. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. They fund life saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and they work to protect young lives through essential welfare programmes.
Please help me support this charity, any donation will help and be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Tracey. Xx
