Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know, I lost my Dad to 'Acute Myeloid Leukaemia' 9 years ago, he was 58. Dad was the bubbliest and friendliest guy you could ever meet, he was also my best friend! With a love for life and a 'Happy go lucky' attitude. He has missed all his grandchildren being born and growing up. Not a day goes by where I am not proud to say 'I am just like my dad'.
I was in Middlesbrough today at the Mela festival where I bumped into a couple fundraising for Leukaemia and Lyphoma research. They lost their daughter, Charlotte to leukaemia...she was only 3 years old. An amazing and inspiring couple who touched my heart. As a parent myself I can't imagine what they have gone through and continue to go through everyday. They inspired me to do something that, for me, is quite a challenge.
As you also know I am the queen of eating, chocolate, pic & mix, cake, and biscuits. In fact, Glen calls me the cookie monster, and I do infact own a pair of knickers bearing this trade mark!!!
I am not fit, I can't run (in fact when I do I look like pheobe on friends - no arm, leg or even body coordination) and I currently have a slipped disc in my back. So, all in all, a 10k run is quite a challenge for me.
Why? I hear you ask, completing a 10k run is hard enough for me, regardless of all the above, but this is nothing compared to the pain of losing a loved one, and the pain of missing them everyday, just wanting one more second to say 'I love you' and give them a hug. The pain of going through treatment, yet continuing to face family and everyday life.
So please, in Memory of dad, Charlotte and all those affected by Leukaemia and Lymphoma in any way shape or form, dig deep and donate now. Every penny counts.
Thank you so much.
