Story
My mum was such a lovely person, so kind, loving, talented, creative
and just the best mum to me and my brother – in her early 60’s she was diagnosed with vascular dementia and slowly over the subsequent years she deteriorated to the point that for the last 5 years of her life she was a body in a bed and she couldn’t communicate in anyway. She finally died when she was 74 but dementia took her away long before that.
Getting dementia is my biggest fear in life, it’s a slow terminal
death and having seen my mum go through it I really feel for anyone that has relatives or friends that are in the same position. There are far too many people that have dementia and the situation seems to be getting worse.
We need to do more research to help stop or at least slow down
the symptoms of dementia and that’s why I’m walking 50KM for the Alzheimer’s Society. If you can, however small, please donate and
help me raise as much money as possible.
Thank you
