Bolton Lads & Girls club is much more than a youth club - for many youngsters in Bolton it is a lifeline.  At the heart of the local community, the club has been providing consistency and support for young people for over 120 years, including my Dad and many other members of my family and friends in the town.

Every week, 3,000 young people now take part in mentoring, financial and enterprise education, sport, healthy eating programmes and career development plans, and the buzz and excitement in the club is amazing.  When visiting I am always taken aback with the confidence these young articulate people display and their commitment to helping others. 

Your donation will go directly to supporting enterprise and employability programmes with many of the towns most disadvantaged youngsters.  With youth unemployment at over 1 million, these young people have no support, no aspirations and little future.

Those of you that know me well will know that camping and exercise are not high up on my list of favourite things to do!  Though I love Africa and am looking forward to the amazing views, this will be a huge challenge for me.  But that's the whole point - if I can climb a mountain, then we can help thousands of young people overcome the hurdles they face in todays economy, and that has to be well worth the effort.
