Story
Last year, many of us lost our precious boy, Glen. Glen was a wonderfully curious young man with a fascination for living and working in Germany and in fact was close to achieving that dream. A group of seven of us have decided that Glen can still make it to Germany, Berlin to be precise, and plan to cycle the journey from Manchester in July in his honour.
Alongside completing Glen's journey we will be raising some money for the Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS). Having experienced the after effects of coping with a suicide, it has opened our eyes to the lack of services or help for people grieving and trying to make sense of each of these tragedies. SOBS rely on
donations but their work is invaluable in helping people to cope and to piece their lives back together.
The bike journey itself is around 750 miles (1200 km) of
cycling and will take around 13 days starting on 22/07/17 from Manchester. 4 of us are cycling, Neil (Glen's brother), Ruth (Glen's girlfriend), Tim (Glen's
friend) and Alex who is also a friend of Glen's. Tim and Alex are experienced cyclists while Neil and Ruth are making this a team effort to help each other get
through. We will be supported by Barbara (Neil and Glen's Mum) with Ann and Richard (Ruth's parents) for the journey. We are hoping we can make this journey
for Glen and for SOBS.
If you are able to donate to the cause it would be most
appreciated by us, by SOBS and by the thousands of people who rely on support from SOBS.
