Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why am I asking people to wear something green?

The very sad news last month of a young 10 year old boy who ended his life after struggling with bullying and all that Tourette’s encompasses left me with a sadness I can’t quite put into words. I didn’t know the young boy or his family but to have a child of a similar age, who also has Tourette’s, it just made it all feel so very raw and I just wanted to help fix things. The sad reality is, this isn’t an isolated case, it is something far too common https://www.touretteshero.com/2012/12/08/understanding-for-amy/

Now more than ever we need to raise awareness around Tourette’s, we need people to understand all that it entails, we need people to understand that it’s totally involuntary and most of all we need to improve the medical care offered, so that all children can access the medical care they deserve and need, regardless of their postcode! Currently the medical care offered is minimal with some areas having no care at all!

With this in mind, it is Tourette’s Awareness month May 15th - June 15th, I am asking if all schools and businesses can hold a “Wear Something Green Day” either on Tourette’s awareness day (June 7th) or any day during the awareness month and ask for donations.

I’d like people to post a picture of them wearing green if possible with the hashtag #TourettesAwareness21 and #TogetherWeAreStronger

Tourette’s is a neurological condition that affects 1 in 100 children. Currently the medical care offered is limited throughout the country, the following petition has been created to try to help https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/575370 if you would like to sign it, please do.
