On the 11th August the Russo Family and friends are getting together again to do the grueling "Tour de Tayside" 43 mile bike run in memory of our dad Joe Russo to mark the 25th anniversary of his passing.  Joe was a well known local businessman who originally owned a couple of Pet Shops, ran a successful Boarding and Breeding Kennels, but was probably best known as the towns Ice-Cream man. 

After a brave fight he sadly died on the 8th August 1994 after battling acute myloid leukaemia.  We have now held this event on four separate occasions in his memory and in the process, have raised an amazing amount of money for blood cancer research and for our local hospital, Ninewells in Dundee.  

The first year we raised enough money to try and take our dad to Lourdes but unfortunately he passed away just 2 weeks later, so instead another patient from the ward in Ninewells who had become a close friend, made the worthwhile trip, with rest of the money going to Leukaemia Research.

We then decided to run the bike run every five years with monies raised being split between the excellent blood cancer patients' ward in Ninewells and the other half going to Leukaemia Research which is now known as "Bloodwise".  

So here we are 25 years on (and 25 years older) and off we go again to raise more money for the ward and more superb research.
