We provide emergency aid and assistance to those affected by conflict & disaster

Story

Me and my friends have decided to take on the Tough Mudder challenge and at the same time help raise funds for the victims of the floods in Pakistan.

Millions of people have been affected by floods in Pakistan, hundreds have been killed, and the government has declared a national emergency. Initial estimates show more than 900 people had been killed since June - including 34 in the past 24 hours.

Many sit with just beds - all their possessions lost to the water. The streets are flooded, and plastic waste has spewed out of sewage pipes. Large pools of dirty water have collected, slowing down any drainage.
Residents are worried the standing water will bring waterborne diseases with it. It's been raining all week in Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh province. There's been little respite for communities hoping to return home to see what can be salvaged.
A number of homes in the city and towns have also been damaged - left with just the walls. Thousands whose homes were swept away now live in tents, miles away from their inundated villages and towns, after being rescued by local disaster workers and volunteers.

Key Facts

• At least 900 people have lost their lives, including 77 children

•Over 500 people have been injured in the floods

•Over 34,000 homes have been deluged

•977km of road infrastructure and 61 bridges have been destroyed

•In Balochistan alone, over 150,000 people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance

The Action for Humanity Team are mobilising emergency Aid Immediately to affected areas.

£50.00- Provides a Dignity kit -During the most desperate situations such as the aftermath of a natural disaster or during a conflict, AFH distributes basic supplies to maintain the health and dignity of women and girls. Many of these supplies are included inside containers called dignity kits. These kits are given out at refugee camps or other similar locations. With your support we can ensure that needs that are necessary but often ignored are covered with your support. £50.00 will ensure females receive a months supply of the following products: menstrual pads, bath soap, detergent powder, sanitary napkins, a flashlight, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a comb, all assembled inside a backpack or easy-to-carry bucket.

£50.00 - Food baskets- The food crisis is a symptom of a food system in crisis. Bad weather, high oil prices, agrofuels, and speculation are only the proximate causes of a deeper, systemic problem. The root cause of the crisis is a global food system that is highly vulnerable to economic and environmental shock. AFH ensures nutritious staple foods tailored for each specific region. £50.00 will ensure a family of 4 is provided with immediate lifesaving food kits in hard reached areas that will last for a month. with

£100.00 - WASH Fund - During times of crisis ie: damage to infrastructure due to disaster or conflict causes a massive shortage in terms of access to water facilities. AFH run a number of projects globally that repairs such damage to the infrastructure like fixing drains, gutters in camps to avoid flooding. water trucking, building water wells, installing tanks to ensure that we minimise the risk to health repercussions etc. For £50/ month we can ensure that the WASH fund has a continual income to allow us to keep working on all our life saving water projects.

£200.00 – Food and NFI’s £500 will provide a family with life saving food kit for a month and dignity kits as well as clean water (Items same as above)

£500.00 – Emergency Shelter. This will provide emergency shelter to displaced families’. E.g. A tent, blankets, sleeping mats.

When emergencies strike, we act and mobilise. We respond immediately to ensure the most vulnerable are protected, their basic needs are met, and lives are saved. Our work is driven by immediate response and effective delivery, but we stay long after a disaster to help restore lives. As an NGO we are guided by our drive to help others, not profit. When emergencies strike, we act to ensure to save lives and protect the vulnerable. When the emergency is over, we stay and help restore lives. We were founded in 2011 in the UK by a group of doctors whose sole focus was to provide assistance and aid to those devastated by conflict. For over a decade we have built an expertise in responding to humanitarian needs to benefit the most vulnerable people affected by conflict, disasters and extreme poverty.
