Story
A close friend of ours, Matilda, has recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) after missing a year of school. She is going to have to adapt her life to cope with the challenges of this progressive neurodegenerative disease.
Matilda wanted to share a message with you about the MS society and how it has helped her. 'Hi I'm Matilda, I am Tabitha's friend and I am so thankful to her for raising money for such an amazing charity. I was diagnosed with MS in February this year. There is currently no cure for MS and any donations will go to the MS Society. Their aim is to empower people with multiple sclerosis and to find a cure for the disease. They have personally helped me to accept my diagnosis and are an incredible charity.'
While there are currently no cures to MS research is bringing us closer to finding treatments that slow or stop disease progression.
To help raise money for the MS Society UK we will be running a 10km Tough Mudder on August the 21st 2022. The tough mudder is an extreme endurance event with twenty obstacles including arctic enema (a giant ice bath with two full submersions in the water), everest (a vertical wall you have to run up) and electroshock therapy (running through 1000 wires with 10,000 volts of electricity). If you would like to find out more about the obstacles that we will be facing you can go to https://toughmudder.co.uk/obstacles/ and filter by event type.

Any donations will be gratefully received but this gives you an idea on what the MS society can achieve with your donations.
- £30 - could process one blood sample, giving researchers crucial information about genes and the immune system.
- £50 - could pay for an hour on a microscope, so scientists can study cells and tissue in greater detail and improve their understanding of the biology of MS.
- £100 - could pay for half an hour of MRI use, so researchers can monitor the success of clinical trials and understand MS in more detail.
