Sadly Natalie passed away on the 18th April 2012. My name is Laura and I am Natalie's cousin. Natalie's sisters Michelle, Jemma and Sarah asked me if I could take over Natalie's fundraising page to carry on the great work she started. We have all decided to walk the race in Natalie's memory. We want to do her proud and help Natalie smash her target goal, which is £2000.00. Please read her story below and donate as little or as much as you like.

Thank you!

Natalie's words

Hi everyone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our group fundraising page – hopefully our story will give you an insight into just how beneficial Race for Life is to people fighting the biggest fight of their lives. To those of you reading that don't know me my name is Natalie and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2011, not long after my 28th birthday and only a few months after my long awaited wedding.

No one can prepare themselves for the shock of being told you have cancer, particularly when you feel and appear healthy, are a young age and have no family history.

I have been undergoing treatment since September 2011, firstly 5 months of chemotherapy followed by surgery, radiotherapy and further chemotherapy. I am unsure when my battle will be won but with the help and support of all of the doctors, nurses and volunteers I know how lucky I am to be in a position to not only join the Race for Life but look forward to a cancer-free future.

Had I been born 20 or even 10 years ago and given this news I know I would not have the same confidence in my future.

It’s because of charities like Race for Life that I and millions of others have been given the chance to fight back for control of their fate.

We literally all know someone who has either had cancer or are close to someone who has had or is battling it now.

This affects all of us and there is something we can do about it!

I will be walking my way through the Race for Life in Reading alongside my mum Maggie, my sisters Michelle and Jemma, my aunts Joyce, Jean, Karen, Jenny & Dawn, my cousins Laura and Hayley, and some other family and friends including:

Sian, Paige and Katie.

As some of us (including me!) are not particularly equipped to run a quick race we will do our best with the walking!

It’s likely that you already feel this is a worthwhile cause which is why you visited but if you, like our group “Tortoise Troop”, want to make a real difference and protect the future of the people you love we appreciate any contribution you can make to help us reach our target.

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET EVEN MORE DONATIONS WHY NOT ADD OUR GROUP PAGE TO YOUR EMAIL/FACEBOOK/TWITTER/LINKEDIN ACCOUNT!

My family and I would love to have the opportunity to give something back to all the people that have and are still taking care of me. Treatments have come a long way thanks to the generosity of us all giving to cancer research – please help it continue to improve!

We’ll all be there walking our way around Prospect Park on 22nd July hoping to make a difference!

Thank you for your generosity.

Gift Aid it!
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
