<p><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: navy; font-size: 14pt;"><span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><strong>Dad passed away on 5th June 2011 just after midnight</strong>, from the </span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">devastating complications of a </span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">haemorrhagic<strong> (bleeding) stroke</strong></span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000080;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: navy;"><em><span style="font-size: small;">In his memory we would like to highlight the devastating </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000080;">damage that a stroke can do, both to the individual and their family. This type of stroke can't be treated with drugs and surgery is rare!</span></span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000080;"> </span></span></em></span></span></span></p>

<p><em><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">In Dads case he lost the use of his right side, including sight, communication, and crucially the ability to swallow. The inability to swallow means upto 1 litre of saliva a day flows into the lungs. This can cause chest infections and Pneumonia. Dad fought 4 chest infections, slowly deteriorating over the 7 weeks. Finally Pneumonia took hold and even strong antibiotics couldn't fight it.</span></span></em></p>

<div><em><span style="font-size: small;">Dad was a fit and healthy man. He swam twice a week, and walked regularly to keep fit. He had a healthy diet, didn't smoke and enjoyed life.A </span></em><em><span style="font-size: small;"><em><span style="font-size: small;">true gentleman, who enriched those he met with his kind gentle manner. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was always willing to help and support anyone he met and will leave a big whole in alot of lives.</span></em></span>
