Story
Just 1 day now to the start of the 2022 AlbaRosa Cycling Club’s Annual Ultra event. Roughly 420 miles of unsupported cycling around 10 checkpoints across the North of England. There is still a small chance I won’t be last. Good luck to those with super speedy times in mind. Last year’s Winner, Alex Pattison, finished in an astonishing 32 hours and 42 minutes. Stuff of Dreams.
Not everyone, however, is as lucky as Alex or myself to even think about participating in such an event. They have their own struggles which don’t finish after 32 hours, but last a life time. Multiple Sclerosis is a progressive disease which shapes the lives not only of those who have it, but their family and friends who provide support and care. In my working life, as an NHS based Clinical Scientist working in Rehabilitation Services , I had the privilege of meeting many people with MS. I was amazed at the determination and fortitude I came across. But even so, everyone needs help.
The Multiple Sclerosis Society provides support to those who live with MS and supports research aimed at slowing its insidious progression or preventing it in the first place.
So my real objective in riding the 2022 AlbaRosa Ultra is to raise money for this worthy cause. So please visit my Just Giving Web page and make a donation, however small, as every penny counts.
