Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page in memory of Tony Lynch.
Tony's life was rich in experience and success. Born in the East End of London with his adolescence disrupted by the second World War, he grew into a handsome and loving husband and father of three daughters. He later became as he put it,"a self-made man", following in his family tradition as a publican, finally owning his own freehouse in the late 70s. He enjoyed a long retirement including many foreign holidays with his wife Kathleen, brother and sister and their partners, as well as his daughters and grandchildren.
Tony was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2005 following a period of gradual memory loss and mental decline. He responded well to the stimulation and care provided by Kathleen, his children and grandchildren and participated in family life as much as he could. He was always an exceptionally sociable and popular man and continued to connect with others even when losing his language.
He was cared for unstintingly by Kathleen at home until 2009 when his needs became so complex that he required care in a specialist residential setting. Kathleen continued to care for him through daily visits which greatly contributed to the quality of his last few months. She was with him when he passed away, surrounded by pictures of his family. He was a fine man, had a good life and leaves everyone with the fondest and funniest of memories.
