BREAKING NEWS:
Vicky and Tony completed the Thames Meander 54 mile run in 14 hours 45 mins.....
Thank you to all those who have supported us both for your kind generosity.
Vicky and Tony
The Thames Meander has long been one of the most prominent events in the ultra-running calendar. Established in 1999 and now in its 9th year, the Thames Meander ultra cross-country event takes place in mid-February, with a course meandering along the banks of the River Thames, over towpaths and public rights of way from Reading, heading east to finish near Walton-on-Thames 54 miles later.
We are doing this event for our own personal achievement and also to raise money for Combat Stress. Both Vicky and I are serving members of the armed forces and wanted to contribute to a worthwhile charity whilst pushing ourselves to the limit at a time when our Nations forces are working flat out both mentally and physically around the world in various Conflicts.
We encourage you to donate as much you can for such an overlooked yet worthwhile cause. The Combat Stress charity helps veterans and ex-forces personnel who suffer from psychological injury as a result of their service. The work this charity does also helps the families of veterans who are of course affected by their plight. This includes veterans of all wars and conflicts from the First World War to The Falklands, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan etc.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Combat Stress will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
What ever you donate, on behalf of Combat Stress, those they help, Vicky and myself all thank you very very much. If you would like to learn more about Combat Stress the address to visit is http://www.combatstress.org.uk/
