Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please sponsor me £5 (no more, no less).
We are going to do a sponsored walk of three Premiership Football Clubs, starting at the Barclays Bank building, 1Churchill Place, Canary Wharf, to West Ham United, then on to Arsenal and finishing at Tottenham Hotspur.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Keiton Knight's story
Keiton Knight is 7 years old and has been suffering from cancer for nearly 4 years now, he relapsed in the last month of treatment in July this year with a different type of cancer which left specialists baffled, as it is very rare for this to happen. After an exhausting search for a suitable bone marrow match, surgeons have recently informed Keiton’s family that Keiton’s bone marrow type is so rare that a match may never be found, they were also told that due to the aggressions of Keiton's cancer they don’t think he will live past 6 months without some type of stem cell treatment!
The best option is for Keiton to have cord blood transplant (stem cells from the umbilical cord of a new born baby) which doesn't require the extremely close tissue-type matching, which is why one has now been found for Keiton. BUT hospitals in the UK haven’t performed this type of transplant too often, and it is now apparent that to give Keiton the best chance of survival he needs to go to the where they specialise in this.
This life saving procedure alone costs $600,000 and Keiton and his mother Paris must spend two months in Duke Hospital , Durham , which is one of the most experienced centres for this procedure in the world. On top of this, Keiton and Paris must spend a minimum of 6-8 months living close to the hospital whilst receiving outpatient care.
Keiton is seven years old and just wants to go back to school, play with his friends and live a normal life at last. He’s a brave, beautiful boy battling Leukaemia for the second time in 3 years, without this procedure in the US Keiton won’t live for much longer.
Many thanks for your support.
