Story
As a young adult I was fit and healthy, rowing for Worcester Rowing Club, but as the years went by, good times and good food got in the way. I have struggled with my weight and my fitness since. Trying all of the "Yo-yo diets" and “easy” ways to lose weight. Over the last few years, I became more committed to my health. I joined slimming world, took up running and worked to stay healthy.
As part of my journey, I wanted to find a challenge to work towards and have a goal to aim for.
St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester they care for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days.
On a personal note St Richard’s Hospice has been there for our family and friends, they have cared for our loved ones as if they were their own over the years. Once I knew they were looking for volunteers to raise money for them and the challenge that presented, I was hooked.
On Wednesday 22nd of March 2023, myself and a group of volunteers will be walking 50km across the Moroccan Sahara Desert in 4 days.
This will be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, in one of the most
unique and gruelling environments on the planet.
This trek will give an insight into this vast and diverse landscape, as well as the Berber way of life. We will be camping each night and
hoping to experience the stunning stars in the night sky (weather permitting), and enjoy the traditional Berber cuisine cooked by the team.
Thank you for visiting my just giving page, please help support St Richard’s Hospice and allow them to continue their incredible work.
