“Wear Something Bright Day for Alder Hey”
In Memory of Jemma-Louise Roberts
To help create awareness of Sepsis and Toxic Shock
As you may recall last year we held a “Wear Something Bright Day for Alder Hey”.
The response we had from schools, nurseries, childminders and local businesses was overwhelming. In total, together, we raised just short of £8500, an amazing amount!
I am inviting local schools and colleges to hold a “Wear Something Bright Day” in memory of my daughter Jemma-Louise Roberts again this year to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
We are looking at doing this on any date between 26th February and the 4th March.
I have put a link to Jemma's Just Giving Page which has her story at the bottom of this email. She was admitted to hospital on the 21st February and sadly passed away on 1st March.
I have recently spoken about the circumstances surrounding Jemma’s death which you may have read about in local papers. It is my aim this year to create more awareness of Sepsis and Toxic Shock Syndrome and the signs and symptoms to look out for. By keeping Jemma’s name out there I hope it will remind people and if that can save one life then it has achieved what I have set out to do. TSS only affects around 40 people a year, from those 40 half will be women who are using tampons, the other 20 consist of any age and any gender, 2 or 3 sadly die. As you can see, contrary to belief it can affect anyone at any time.

One thing that stood out about Jemma was her willingness to help other people, this is one of the reason why I want to raise money in her memory for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
If you would like to help then please contact myself by email and I will add your school/college to the growing numbers. My email address is dianeroberts19@gmail.com
