Story
Hi!
Thanks for looking at my Just Giving page to help raise money for Oakwood by climbing Aconcagua!
This year I will be missing Christmas and New Year as I will be climbing a mountain! Aconcagua is one of the 'Seven Summits' and at 6962 meters high it is the highest mountain outside of Asia. This climb will hopefully take us about 2 1/2 weeks to get up and down and we start on the 15th of December. The climb is not technical, but is hard due to the altitude of the mountain, near the summit there is only 40% of the oxygen that is at sea level! It is common for temperatures to reach -30 celsius near the summit. I am sure that this will be the hardest thing I have ever done.
The charity I am raising money for is Oakwood Youth Challenge. Oakwood is a Christian Outdoor Pursuits centre that aims to provide physical, social and spiritual challenges for young people. They provide a huge variety of activities for local youth and school groups, from high ropes to mountain biking, to animal care and horse riding. Check out the website at http://oakwoodyouth.co.uk/ if you want to know more!
Specifically we will be raising money to help build a new building to be used by youth clubs at Oakwood. Oakwood are currently expanding the amount of youth clubs it offers as it now is starting a youth club for disabled people. Any money towards this building will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again for looking at my page and please donate!
Tony

A link should appear around the 15th of December and say something like: 'Aconcagua Expedition Dec 15 - 4 Jan'
