Story
Someone once told me that there are more people alive today than have ever lived in the whole history of mankind, and yet so many people face their darkest hours alone.
I lost my youngest brother, Colin, in 2016 after he faced a long and difficult battle with leukaemia.
My heartfelt thanks goes to the people who have been there for my friends and family when they have faced cancer.
Macmillan Cancer Support provided support in ways I hadn't thought of; such as providing financial guidance when it was no longer possible to work. They really made a big difference by taking some of the stress away.
I can't image what it must be like to face such challenges with no support and if we can make a little bit of difference by helping them to find support, then why not.
I am going to start a challenge. A really really tough one. Riding my bike in the tracks of my cycling heroes. 15,000 ft of climbing and 105 miles of distance over 3 of the highest peaks in the Alps to finish at the top of Alpe d'Huez, where British cyclist Geraint Thomas took the yellow jersey in 2018.
I'll dig deep to complete the challenge and I would be very grateful if you could spare a little something to give me encouragement.
Here's to the next 7 months of training and to climbing to the top of the highest mountain.
Wish me luck.
Best Wishes and Thanks.
