Story

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has sponsored us here and offline.

It turned out to be 5.6k (3.5 miles) and we did it in 30 minutes.  So far, with your support, we have raised over £1270 (incl. gift aid) for the Harefield Hospital Charity which sponsors pioneering research to help to understand the causes of heart and lung diseases and develop new treatments.

Here's why:

In March I had a Sudden Cardiac Arrest while I was at the gym. It's an electrical fault and your heart just stops working.  I was VERY fortunate that the gym had a defibrillator and the gym staff did a great job with the help of a cardiac nurse from Harefield hospital who was in the gym at the time.

There was and is nothing wrong with my heart, they don't know why it happened. It can happen to anyone at any time.  Fitness and age don't seem to count for much.  Less than 3% of people survive and, in the alone, more than 1,750 people die of sudden cardiac arrest each week.

I received immediate emergency care at and had an ICD (Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator) fitted at so, if it ever happens again, I'll 'defibrillate' myself.  It's an amazing place and raising some money will help me pay-back the care they gave me.
