Story
Our Armed Forces serve with immense professionalism in the most challenging environments across the world. Working under pressure for months at a time, thousands of miles from home and often witnessing traumatic events, places a unique strain on individuals that can ultimately affect both them and their loved ones, for years. Maintaining the morale of our serving personnel is vital to the welfare and effectiveness of the men and women who depend on each other every day. Help us to show them how much the public appreciate the sacrifices they, and their families, make every day.
Having applied 5 times previously for a place in the London
Marathon, I was rejected yet again in this years ballot. At the age of 61 my window of opportunity is rapidly closing so if I am to cross this event off my bucket list I needed to find a way. I put out some feelers for a charity place which are still hard to come by. Success at last!!
So on 23rd April this year I will be there running on behalf of the British Forces Foundation Charity. They have offered me one of their places due to my family links with the Armed Forces. The British Forces Foundation is a charity working with serving members and those medically retired as a result of their service. Its aim to promote mental health and boost moral. The obligation for accepting this place is to raise the sum of £1500 In order to achieve this I will be arranging some fund raising events. Additionally, I have set up a just giving page for those who would like to support me in my endeavour. Any donations – no matter how big or small will be most gratefully received!
I am very fortunate to have a great support team helping me with my training with Jim’s expert coaching and Eliot and George’s company on the training runs. If you spot me on one of my training runs then give us a toot or a shout out.
