Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·
Hello I am Tony, a runner and scientist from Warrington in Cheshire. I am married to Shelley and we have a wonderful cat called Alfie.
I have been a runner for 31 years, I have run 26 marathons all over the world. I ran the Great North Run once before in 1991.
In March 2014 I moved to Newcastle University with my work. I live 1 mile and work half a mile from the start of my local road race, this just happens to be the worlds largest half marathon, the Great North Run. This years GNR takes place on Sunday 7th September.
As I live and work so close to the start I decided to run the race again. I got a charity place from Cats Protection.
In August 2003 my sister Marie got a little kitten called Alfie from Warrington Cats Protection. In December 2005 Marie emigrated with her husband and children to New Zealand. This was too far to take a cat, so Alfie came to live with us.
Ever since then Alfie has been a much loved member of our household, so I want to raise money for Cats Protection so they can carry on doing their good work with our feline friends.
