Story
It has been a year like no other. The effects of COVID 19 have been devastating and life changing for so many and for the charity sector, lockdown has also prevented volunteers from organising fundraising events, to help support the most vulnerable in the community.
For a charity like Help for Heroes which relies on 98% of its income from donations, the pandemic has forced it to make some difficult decisions.
The charity’s flagship fundraising event, the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, was cancelled for the second year in a row in 2021. I am humbled to be accepted to ride from John O'Groats to Lands End in support of Help for Heroes - the complete route.
Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. Your fundraising helps them recover and get on with their lives. This ride is part of my contribution to supporting Help for Heroes.
