Story
The dreaded C word that nobody ever wants to hear yet we hear it too many times! Maggie’s Centre help take back control when cancer turns life upside down, with professional support for anything from treatment, side effects money worries whilst also providing support to the loved ones caring for those living with the condition.
Cancer itself is a challenge that we have yet been able to beat so I wanted to set myself a challenge to do what I can to raise as much money as I can to support this amazing charity. Throughout the month of September I’m going to be walking/jogging/running 200km in the hope you can all support me in raising as much money as we can to this amazing charity as let’s face it, we may never find a cure, but we can certainly try our best to make the lives of those who are in a tough place.
Here's a little information on how Maggie's centres help with donations:
£20 enables Maggie’s to pay for a session with a Benefits Advisor for help and advice on money worries so our centre visitors can stop worries about finance and focus on treatment
£60 is enough to pay for a gentle exercise class for 10 centre visitors to support before, during and after treatment; helping with mental health, energy levels and treatment side effects.
£100 could pay for a 2 hour Managing Stress workshop for up to 10 centre visitors; helping support with worries, thoughts and emotions before, during and after any cancer.
£180 could help pay for a six-week menopause course with one of our Cancer Support Specialist for help and advice on coping with changes that may be experienced
£250 could help pay for a six-week bereavement course, led by our psychologists to support our centre visitors to dealing with loss; helping to find a way to start moving forward.
£1,000 could help pay for a Family Day at a centre, which gives families coping with cancer an opportunity to meet programme staff for support and guidance as well as hearing from other families going through a similar experience.
£3,000 could help keep a Maggie’s centre open for a day so we’re here for anyone who needs us.
