Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My mum, Jane Palmer-Thompson (30.7.1969- 25.9.2014)
Mum was diagnosed with renal failure in 2001 and it was discovered that she was born with only one kidney and the kidney she had was failing. She was in and out of hospital and well known on the Prince of Wales Ward at Dorchester Hospital, Mum liked to call this her vacation. In this time she had two transplants, unfortunately the first was unsuccessful but the second kidney gave mum a better quality of life for a number of years. Sadly this came to an end and due to problems with her heart, she was not suitable for another transplant, leaving her on long term dialysis at Yeovil Dialysis Unit.
Mum had various complications over the years but she battled though and showed them who was boss. Consultants said they through out the text books when it came to mum.
One of her final wishes was to marry Alex Thompson and started planning the big day, 27th September 2014. In the last 6 weeks of mums life her health deteriorated rapidly and she was hospitalist. She was absolutely determined to make her wedding day and the hospital worked hard to make this happen and she was alowed home for the weekend of the wedding. Mum truly shined that day and looked so beautiful.
The week of mum passing away will be a time I will never forget. It was a roller-coaster of emotions with immediate family sharing tears and stories of mum when she was younger and we all truly felt she was laughing with us.
I am doing this skydive to raise money and awareness for Kidney Research UK, who help and support others in this position, give them a better quality of life, and though their research are finding better treatments and cures for kidney disease.
