Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you who don't know, my world was ripped apart on 8 January 2014. I was lucky enough to have a young Grandad - too young to be called Grandad so he was called Pop. My Pop was always around me growing up, always with a smile and he would do anything to make my sister and I happy. He was the happiest, kindest man I am ever likely to meet - and losing him has left an unexplainable void in my life.
Eight weeks before Pop passed away, he was working. At the age of 67, he would still climb ladders and fix those roofs. As if a nightmare, Pop's eyesight left him - and it was at least six weeks until we knew why. That dreaded C word that no one wants to hear. Unfortunately, my Pop deteriorated very quickly, and was soon in the Hospice for palliative care. Whilst the staff at St Christopher's couldn't cure Pop, they made him as comfortable as possible in his final weeks here with us, a debt I know I will never be able to repay.
My family and I are in awe of the workers who helped us and my Pop in his last few weeks, and we want to raise as much money as possible so that others may benefit from their outstanding work.
On 11 May 2014, my family and I will be taking part in the Bluebell Walk for St Christopher's Hospice. It's a three mile walk that also has children's activities included for those families with young children. My Pop has four granddaughters - myself and my sister, and our cousins Daisy and Poppy who are five and two years of age. My sister and I have sworn that they will know exactly what kind of man Pop was, and that includes raising money by taking part in the Bluebell walk.
