I'm walking 1K a Day in February to support families facing dementia. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.

Recently  my mother has been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and was moved into a nursing home at the end of last year.  Even though its been a short time I can see her fading away and the mother I knew doesn't appear to be there anymore.  So I am walking 1K a day to support the nurses who do a wonderful job caring for our family  members.
