Text TOMH71 £1/£2/£5/£10 to 70070.
Thomas is from Bournemouth and has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. He was born 12 weeks premature, weighing a tiny 2lb 10 oz, Thomas is 8 and attends Victoria School.
He is already aware of his disability and limitations but in spite of his disability Thomas is a very intelligent, charismatic and loving little boy. To be able to walk and play without pain and enjoy his life with his siblings would be truly life changing for him.
Before the operation,Thomas could only sit up for a short time unaided, pulls himself across the floor and cannot stand or walk.
With the help of the community and the Trustees of The Dorset Children's Foundation organising a sky-dive we have already raised funds for him so that he could have an SDR operation. This was to enable him to have more movement in his legs and less pain, as he has agonising muscle spasms. This has dramatically reduced his level of pain and cramping at night. His mobility has also improved and he has been able to take some unaided steps. Thomas has since worked really hard to keep up with his therapy which has significantly improved his quality of life. However, the funding for this is now coming to an end and it is essential it continues to ensure his on-going progress.
