Story

If you are reading this then I hope you are half way to donating some money to support me, and for that I thank you. I know together we'll make a difference. I'm doing this in memory of my friends little boy who died too soon on the 20/04/12 and currently there was nothing anybody could do to treat or cure him.

Jacob Nicholas Wright was born on the 6th December 2010. He was the most beautiful boy anyone had ever seen. Jacob experianced many health problems in his life and after 5 months of tests and trips to Hospital in Febuary 2012 the Dr's told us he had Leigh's Disease. This is a little know Mitochondrial Disease, which meant the Mitochondria or Batteries in Jacob's brain cells were not working and we were told he would not have long to live.

Jacob died on the 20th April 2012 peacefuly in his mummy's arms with his daddy holding his hand.

Jacob was extrodinary, and his mummy, daddy and whole family are greatful everyday for having him there lives. He taught so many people so much and was the bravest, kindest, snuggleyest little boy you could ever meet.

The Lily Foundation is a Charity set up by the family of a little girl called Lily that lost her fight with the disease, it's role is to help families effected by Mitochondrial Disease.

With your support The Lily Foundation can do this in three ways:

Research

There are currently no effective treatments or cures available for mitochondrial disease. With your Money the Lily Foundation can fund vital research to find treatments and one day a cure.

Raising Awareness

In order to diagnose mitochondrial disease, there needs to be greater awareness of the condition throughout the health service.

The Lily Foundation provides training and information to both Medical Proffetionals and the public.

Family Support

The charity offers support to families through direct personal contact, by phone, email and through our network of affected families. They are also able to fund parent accommodation at a number of UK hospitals so that families can be close to their sick children.

And as experianced by Jacob and his Family they offer short breaks to  Center Parcs so families can build lasting memories with their sick child that they can cherish after their child has passed. When time with your sick child is limited, it is especially important to have uninterrupted time so that special memories can be built.

Bereavement counselling is also available to families to help them deal with the tragedy of losing their child.

So Thank you taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
