On saturday the 23rd may 2009 I will be doing a parachute jump in aid of the Huntington's Disease Association. It is a charity close to my heart as my girlfriend kayleigh was diagnosed with the condition two years ago. I am trying to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the vital support it gives families who are affected by HD, and hopefully a cure.
Huntington's disease, which is often called HD is an hereditary disorder of the central nervous system. HD is caused by a faulty gene on chromosone 4, the faulty gene leads to a damage of the nerve cells in areas of the brain. This leads to gradual physical, mental and emotional changes.
Each person whose parent has HD is born with a 50-50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene. The symptons usually develop when people are between 30-50 years old, although they can start much earlier which is known as juvenile HD.
There is currently no cure! it is always terminal
So please sponsor me now! Thanks.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Huntington's Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
