Story
Tommy is a super star 6 year old, who is determined to raise money for the hospital that looks after him so well, so that the hospital can continue to do the fantastic work they are doing. In Tommy’s words “The hospital look after me so well, now I want to do something for them”.
Tommy has decided to scooter a full marathon, that’s a whole 26 miles! He will do this over the course of a month and plans to do some extra things in between! (Watch this space)! He has now planned a coffee morning and bake sale too, which will take place on the 8th May.
Tommy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 2 years old, he was critically Ill in diabetic ketoacidosis and very scared, but the fantastic staff supported Tommy and made him feel at ease and provided us as parents with so much support too.. This was the start our a long journey and with the support of Sheffield Childrens Hospital, he is doing really well.
In addition to his diabetes, Tommy has some additional health issues and at only 6 years old, Tommy has already had lots of in-patient stays, undergone various procedures and is under the care of a number of clinics at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Every ward and department have been fantastic with Tommy and the staff go above and beyond to support the children and their carers. The facilities are always improving and continue to do so because of the donations received and fundraising.
If you can, please support Tommy to reach his goal for the hospital that looks after him so well!
