Why am I climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and why would you want to pay me to do it?

• Concept was set up in 2005 and the first trek took place in June 2006
• 107 employees from 9 countries have already taken part.
  
• This is the biggest fundraising initiative in Accenture’s history and will have raised over £500,000 ($1,000,000) in just its 2nd year.
• Money has helped VSO support 66,000 people impacted by HIV and Aids in Southern Africa.
• The global trekkers in 2007 raised an average of £2,600 ($5,200) each

During our trip, we will be visiting a VSO site in East Africa to see first-hand the aid work that is being done. Below is some specific information about VSO's work in East Asia.

About VSO Tanzania
VSO Tanzania aims to reduce poverty by working with government and non state agencies to develop their capacity to:

• Improve access to, quality and relevance of education
• Improve access to HIV and AIDS services
• Strengthen the ability of disadvantaged people to make a viable living

About VSO Kenya
VSO is active in many development projects in Kenya, focusing on:

• Improving participation and active involvement of people with disabilities in the economic and socio-political life of Kenyan society
• Contributing to a reduction in individual and organisational vulnerability to HIV infection and susceptibility to AIDS
• Increasing employment opportunities and income generating capacity for unemployed youths, poor women and people with disabilities in three regions of Kenya
