Story
I spent 5 months at St George's hospital in 2017 after I was involved in a serious road traffic accident whilst cycling back from the library at Loughborough University. I was left with an extensive brain injury and spent 6 weeks at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, the first 4 of which I was in a coma and on a ventilator. I was then transferred down to St George’s hospital to continue my rehab journey.
When I first arrived at St George's, I couldn't speak, sit up in bed or do many other basic tasks. The doctors, nurses and therapists were incredible and within 4 weeks my speech had improved drastically, I had taken my first steps and was on my journey to regaining my independence.
I am raising money specifically for the Kent ward where I spent the first 12 weeks of my time at St George's as a thank you for helping me get my life back on track. The rehab also helped my family to support my recovery and all of us to resume normal lives.
Those of you who know me are aware that I used to run competitively but I have taken a long break from the sport, and this is a challenge that enables me to give back in my own way.
My sister, Georgie, is also running (and convinced me that I wanted to do a half marathon). She is also raising money for St George's so please donate to her page too. I've included links to the videos I made of the first two years of my recovery as well as to my sister's fundraising page.
