Marathon des Sables and London Marathon 2008, 9 January 2008
We give our patients outstanding care to help them make the best of every moment

Story

In late March 2008, I am competing in the 'worlds toughest footrace' - The Marathon des Sables, through the Sahara http://www.saharamarathon.co.uk/

The race covers 243km / 151 miles over 6 days, I will be carrying all my own kit for the duration of the race, including food and plenty of water!

Midday temperatures will be around 120 degrees farenehiet and between 15-20% of the race will be through sand dunes.

Following this, I thought it might be fun to have around 4 days off and then run the London Marathon!

In total I will be covering 177miles in 7 days - thats 7 marathons in 7 days!

I am raising money for three charities: RNLI, Asthma UK and Trinity Hospices.

As I am unable to put 3 different charities on one page, I have set up three pages, as follows:

RNLI = http://www.justgiving.com/tomfortune

ASTHMA UK = http://www.justgiving.com/tomfortune_asthma

TRINITY HOSPICES = http://www.justgiving.com/tomfortune_trinity

Please give generously as all the charities are very worthy and running 177 miles is quite a long way!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me.The charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
