I'm proud to be joining Team Sarcoma in The London Landmarks Half Marathon

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to run the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon for Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments.
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat.
In November 2020, our lives took an unexpected turn when my wife Alana Duncan was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive form of cancer, angiosarcoma. On her journey she displayed true strength and resilience.
Throughout her diagnosis, Alana was a fighter. She endured difficult months of intense chemotherapy, followed by invasive surgery in hopes of beating the cancer. Unfortunately it quickly returned. Alana continued further rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy with determination and hope.
Alana’s journey included many hospital stays and moments of uncertainty. Alana made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with active treatment herself. Choosing rather to make the most of every precious moment she had left surrounded by friends and family.
Alana passed away peacefully in August 2021 with her family beside her.
Alana was much more than her illness, she was an extraordinary woman whose positive outlook, love for life, and selfless nature touched the lives of all who knew her. Even in her darkest hours, she found ways to bring joy and laughter to every occasion, always thinking of others before herself.
Her spark for life remained ignited until the end, and her courage and resilience continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will forever be remembered for her compassion towards others, infectious laughter and her genuine love for celebrating life alongside her beloved family and friends.
Thank you for reading Alana’s story, please join me in celebrating her life and the incredible impact she had on so many by contributing to Sarcoma UK. No matter how small any contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by Sarcoma. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:- £1 could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line- £10 could be used to buy microscope slides to look at cells in minute detail- £30 could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope- £150 could fund the support line for a week.
Please consider sharing her story with others, so her legacy of love, courage, and compassion can continue to touch hearts and inspire
change
Together, let's remember a women who was self described as “small but mighty” and who will forever be cherished as a beloved wife, daughter, sister and friend. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us keep her memory alive.
