Story
The hospice's ability to raise the money needed for their care services is suffering. Many of their planned fundraising events have been cancelled and there is a huge income gap to fill. Please consider supporting Martin House during these very difficult times. Martin House families describe the services of the hospice as a 'lifeline' as it steps in to help them in the darkest of days.Together we can help.
Tom, our beautiful boy, was just 17 when he collapsed whilst helping at his school's Sixth Form Open Day. He died later the same day in hospital, he had suffered a bleed on the brain. After he had donated organs which saved lives, he was taken to Martin House, they offer cooled rooms for children to stay in to enable their family to spend time with them. Martin House helped us enormously in the difficult days following Tom's death and they went on to support us months later when we attended a parent's group for counselling sessions. We would like to give a little back to this amazing Charity in memory of Tom. Please donate what you can, thank you.
WOW what can we say. The relay marathon was run on Saturday 18th April 2020 and was a huge success. The figures:
80 miles run
17 miles walked
1 mile scooted
£3838.00 raised ( as of today 20th April 2020)
From 08:00 up until 19:10 there was someone somewhere running for Martin House in memory of Tom. The starter was our daughter Lucy in London and it ended with Ed in London and in between we had runners in Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and even one in Lahore. As Lucy said " it was great to see so many people coming together virtually during this very strange time."
Thank you to everyone who took part or donated or did both, Martin House will be extremely grateful as are we. The biggest thank you goes to Lucy whose idea it was and who managed the whole event. She is incredible and we are so proud of her.
There is still time to donate, and every bit helps!
