Windsor Half Marathon · 24 May 2015
I have known Sue Michelmore ever since she moved one of my best friends Clare into the room opposite me at University. She is a truly lovely lady, who whenever I visit treats me like her own son and I often receive a ration of recently cooked cakes from her!
Unfortunately Sue has been living with kidney failure. This is a nasty progressive condition, with Sue having to be hooked up to a dialysis machine every night and getting incredibly tired during the day.
Despite this she's still the chirpy lady she's always been and if you met you would never guess her condition.
I am glad to say that Sue after a long time on the waiting list, has in May had a Kidney transplant. Fingers crossed this will help restore her life to normality very soon.
It was decided that after seeing the tough journey that Sue has had to go through, that a group of us would run the Royal Windsor Half Marathon to raise money for the National Kidney Federation. We are even going to run this cross course race in Kidney themed outfits!
The National Kidney Federation is a charity committed to raising the quality of life for patients living with kidney disease.
