We have finished!
At 2.15pm on June 29th, after 10 days, 3 punctures, 2 new tyres and 1 new spoke we cycled into Land's End. 10 days and 984.4 miles in memory of Dad.
Why we did it......
My father and Ed's grandfather died on Christmas Eve last year, 12 days after falling from his bicycle on an icy hill in nearby Eastleach. He was taken to the intensive care unit of Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham and until his death from head injuries, was looked after by the most dedicated and impressive group of specialist doctors and nurses. Ed and I wanted to cycle together - after his A levels - in Dad's memory and to take the opportunity to raise some money for two important charities. The first charity (this page) is the wonderful
Selly Oak Hospital, to ensure that it continues to have the complex but costly equipment so others might have the same care as my father.
The second charity (log onto www.justgiving.com/edbarry) is the inspirational Future Hope charity that Ed came across when he was at the Dragon School. It gives underprivileged children in Calcutta the support and opportunities needed to help get themselves off the streets.
