Story
Hey Everyone,
Jonathan Butler and myself are taking part once again in
this years Pink Ribbon charity cycle in aid of the National Breast Cancer
Research Institute.
The events in which hundreds of cyclists take part has been
ran since 2010 and has raised 1.2 million euro in its existence. Its totally
volunteer based and is ran by Mayo folks who give up their time to put it all
together.
All money goes towards the research unit based in NUI Galway
whose work focuses on Breast Cancer in particular in the hope of helping patients
fight and survive the disease through groundbreaking treatments.

For obvious reasons, the cycle was cancelled in 2020 and ran
virtually in 2021 so in 2022 it will run as a single event where you get to
meet people and enjoy the spin with others….what leisure cycling is all about!
The cycle held on the April 30th is 108km
starting in Castlebar going through Ballyvary, Swinford, Foxford, Knockmore,
Ballina where a food stop is held by Ballina Stephenites, Crossmolina,
Lahardane, Pontoon and then across The Burren towards Castlebar.
In 2019 we completed the cycle in 4:06 so we are looking to
improve on that by going under 4 hours. The aim is always to go as fast as
possible!
On the day we will run our LiveTrack on Garmin so you can
follow us and come out and cheer us as we pass, we will be the lads in the
highlighter pink socks and jerseys 😊
We are appealing to our Telus colleagues to dontate towards
the very worthy cause and raise some money for the charity and the National
Breast Cancer Research Institute.
Many Thanks
Jonathan Butler and Tom Staunton
