Story
Hi everyone,
On the 17 June I am competing in a triathlon to raise money for Sub-Saharan Children’s Hope Trust. As lots of you will know, I, as did many of you, lost a beautiful friend in Grace Hadman just over three years ago. Sub-Saharan Children’s Hope Trust is a charity that Grace supported and one that her family continue to support in her memory. I have wanted to raise money for one of Grace’s charities for a while and this is the perfect opportunity. The founder of the charity is also a former teacher and friend of mine, Henry Chitsenga. The money will be put to such good use assisting under privileged young people in Sub Saharan countries with educational scholarships, food and clothing. Currently all the efforts of the charity are being put into providing the Sabvure clinic and primary school (Nyanga, Zimbabwe) The community does not have electricity even though there has been a community living there since the 1800s. The nearest power grid is about 15km away. Supplying the school and clinic with electricity will save the lives of today and tomorrow's generations. People cannot be treated at night because there is no power. The new school cannot attract and retain good teachers if there is no electricity. Every penny towards this great cause will make a huge difference.
The triathlon consists of a 1100m swim, a 30km bike and a 7km run. Although it will be a tough event and the training will be difficult, I know that motivation for this cause will not be nearly as hard.
I know that many of you will have donated to marathon runners recently but any donations to my justgiving page will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference, no matter how little.
Much Love,
Tom
