Story
In November 2018, I signed up to ride a one mile straight amateurs' race at Ascot. Since then I have been working hard to get fit, lose weight - and learn how to ride race horses! It has taken up a considerable amount of time and been hard work but worth it for the experience and the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for WellChild. The money raised will fund the equipment of three 'Better at Home' training suites to help 120 children move from long term hospital care back into their homes.
I used to ride event horses, competing at Burghley International 4 Star Horse Trials nearly 20 years ago, but have hardly ridden since due to a combination of work, children and injury. It has been fantastic to get back in the saddle. I have been riding up to four strings of horses starting before 7am on a Saturday morning, sometimes in the dark and sleet during winter, but it has been worth it.
It's now 6 weeks to go and I really need your support and donations to raise as much money as possible for WellChild. Of course do come and watch on Friday 12 July to spur me on. The final furlong is in sight....
Thanks very much.
Tom
